Barb and her husband started showing German Shepherds in 1971, with several UK imports and one N Z import. In 1975 they decided to show in another Group and decided Group 3, English Cocker Spaniels, mainly Blue Roans and parti-colours. Their small but very successful kennel was known as Raalam Kennels and over the following 22 years they bred and showed many champions. They have also shown Dobermann's, Miniature Poodle, Australian Kelpie and an Australian Stumpy Cattle Dog. For 15 years until 2004 they showed Australian Cattle Dogs with much success. Now they show Schipperkes and Long Coat Chihuahuas, and are presently awaiting two more pups from those breeds. In Breed Specialty Shows, Barb has judged Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Stumpy Cattle Dogs, Australian Kelpies, Border Collies, Collie Rough and Smooth, Shetland Sheepdogs, Rottweiler's, Poodles (all types), Dachshund (all types).
