A professional International Dog Judge, licensed by the Canadian Kennel Club to judge all breeds of dogs. He has also been approved by the American Kennel Club to judge all breeds in the United States and by the Federation Cynalogique Internationale to judge all breeds in other countries of the world. Acquired his first Doberman in 1944. After completing military service in 1961 he began breeding Dobermans under the "Jagermeister" kennel name and is still an active Doberman breeder and occasional exhibitor. He has bred over 130 Champions and his dogs have won 61 All Breed Best in Show awards and numerous specialties. He has also bred German Shorthaired Pointers and owned and exhibited Boxers. He now also breeds Samoyeds with his wife Barbara. He is a former professional handler in Canada and the United States until approved by the Canadian Kennel Club to judge in 1974. In addition to writing a column on Doberman Pinschers in Canada's National dog magazine he is a regular speaker and presenter on a wide variety of dog and conformation subjects. Is the Founding, and Past President, of the Canadian Dog Judges Association. Active all-breed judge and travels the world judging dogs on a regular basis. He has judged in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Philippines, Russia and Venezuela, as well as throughout Canada and the USA.
