Mary Alderman's involvement in purebred dogs began with Siberian Huskies in 1984 and her love and appreciation for the Whippet breed began in 1990 when she obtained her first Whippet. She has bred a number of Siberian champions, but she breeds and shows exclusively Whippets under the AKC registered kennel prefix of Jaama today. Mary has bred many Whippet bench and field champions, group winners, and dogs of her breeding are behind some of the top winners in the show ring in the U.S. and Japan today. Mary is an American Whippet Club Approved Mentor, licensed All Breed UKC Judge, and she had the honour of judging the American White Shepard National Specialty show in 2009, and the Hundaraektunarfelagid Ishundar (Iceland) show in 2011. She is a Whippet Rescue and Placement (WRAP) volunteer and devotes countless hours to public education for the Whippet breed. She is the creator and web designer for a Whippet informational website WhippetResourceCenter.com and an avid supporter of the Whippet Health Foundation and their mission.
