Away from the dog scene, Irene's job is as an accountant. She is married with two children who are both keen swimmers and water polo players. She is a qualified swimming teacher / timekeeper / judge and is due to take her starter exam in November. Most nights / weekends are spent on poolside coaching kids ages 6 – 16yrs old – which she finds very rewarding especially when you see them progress to national level. In 1978, they purchased their first show dog, an English Cocker bitch, who finished her championship and immediately went to a pet home. As happens many times, they came to the realization that she was not without her major faults. They did go on to better breeding, finishing many champions both in Canada and the U.S, competing well at specialties.
In the early '80's, they were involved with Lhasa Apsos for about five years, again finishing many champions in Canada and the U.S. They had good friends who raised English Springers and Pomeranians, and it was there that they took on yet a third breed, Pomeranians, and later a few co-owned Springers. They also owned German Short-Haired Pointers here and there, mainly for exhibiting, as well as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, again American and Canadian champion and much-loved companion.
While they maintain a fondness for our other breeds, it is with the Pomeranians that they had their greatest successes. Their home-bred dogs, owner-handled, have placed in the top ten dogs in Canada. They still enjoy breeding and finishing their puppies, but no longer campaign dogs.
They are charter members of the South-western Ontario Sporting Dog Club, assisting with specialty events each year, and have judged in Ireland, U.S., Venezuela and Australia, and the Spring Fair dog show in Australia, 2005.

Benny's activities in dogs started in his early teenage years. It began in 1964 with "Tina", who was supposed to be an Afghan Hound, but the money earned from a summer job did not cover the cost of a pure bred Afghan. In a local newspaper an advert appeared about a cross bred litter, Benny went to have a look, and came home with a lovely puppy, a cross between Border Collie and Greyhound. He took her to obedience classes and obedience competition in the local dog club but as cross-breeds were not allowed for official competitions he had to get a pure bred dog too. At the club his favourite was a big black Giant Schnauzer bitch and the decision was easy! That was what he wanted to have. He contacted the famous Riesengårdens kennel .... and the rest became history! Benny has been a licensed FCI judge since 1977, from the start as a Schnauzer/Pinscher and Giant Schnauzer judge but later have added more breeds. Since his debut in 1978 he has judged at championship show level both at all breeds and specialty breed shows in Scandinavia, England, Ireland, Australia and most European countries.

Acquired his first show dog in the fifties as a boy - a Deerhound bitch, Ch. Mountebanks Sylvia. Spent summers in England as a teenager working with dogs and getting his basic dog know-how from the old classic dog people. Imported and bred some Deerhound litters in the sixties - some champions still around in the pedigrees from this. Started in Greyhounds with Bo Bengston in 1966 and was very fortunate that the famous modern Scandinavian Greyhounds branched out from this. Has breed nine generations since then and, by exporting mainly to England and USA, influenced the breed worldwide. His co-bred bitch, Ch. Piruett, was Sweden's dog of the year in 1975. Has no prefix since he always co-bred with friends (due to his professional career as Doctor of Medicine - he has never had more than two dogs at home and very little time left for his favourite hobby). Has also some personal experience in breeds from other groups, but has always lived with Sighthounds. Judged dogs since 1966 and since the mid-nineties, has been an FCI All-breeds Judge. His experience has been gained from most corners of the world and he has had some very honourable assignments - World Shows, Crufts, Santa Barbara, the Royals in Australia, etc and many great breed specialities. Mr. Bodegard is an all breed judge and has judged in most European countries including many times in England. He has judged Crufts and the Royals in Australia. He has judged many times in New Zealand, Thailand, Israel and repeatedly in the United States including many breed specialties in Europe, Asia and Australia. Normally judges around 30 weekends a year. Has a position on the Central Board of the Swedish Kennel Club.
Dr. Bodegard is president of the Swedish Greyhound Club and sits on the central board of the Swedish Kennel Club. He is a pediatrician, psychoanalyst, and child psychiatrist, involved in research and clinical work with seriously ill and disturbed refugee children from former Soviet republics.

BOILEAU, Mr. Luc

Wisconsin, USA

Toy, Hound, Non-Sporting

Ph: (262) 763-2864

Inherited his interest in animals from his father, who kept hunting dogs. When he was old enough to care for them, he was given his own dogs—a Poodle and Whippet. At the age of sixteen he began breeding and showing Whippets, and was associated with the breed for many years. He  was for decades one of the busiest and most successful professional handlers on the circuit. He began his handling career in his native Canada, came to America to manage and show dogs for Ed Jenner at Knollard Farm, and, he says, "I’m still here!" The names of the champions he bred and handled while at Knollard would be "too many to list."  His professional handling career culminated at the 1990 Westminster show, when he took Best in Show with Ch. Wendessa Crown Prince. He handled the great Pekingese champion to eighty-six group firsts and thirty-four Bests in Show.
Approved to judge the Toy Group in 1990, Mr. Boileau is now approved to judge the Hound and Non-Sporting groups as well. He is a two-time Westminster breed judge and has conducted Pekingese judges’ seminars. President of the Wheaton Kennel Club and is a twenty-five-year member of the Pekingese Club of America. He is the recipient of a Quaker Oats Top Toy Dog award.  Away from the dog-show ring, he is an accomplished breeder-exhibitor of Hackney ponies with many champions to his credit.

First dog as a teenager, a superbly natured GSD, who has spoiled him from ever having another one, as he believes that to compare would be unkind and any replacement would be hard to match in intelligence and devotion. He sees evidence both judging and observing people at shows, whom he believes sadly, don't LIKE dogs "as dogs"... they see them as extensions of their egos with a "Win at all costs" mentality with animals trained to be robot-like with no real relationship between handler and canine .. those few moments in the ring possibly being for the dog, the most intense contact and attention they have received all week. Has been involved with the following breeds: Pembroke Corgis, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Old English Sheepdogs (honoured to have been invited to judge this breed all around the world at specialties), Afghan Hound, Bichon Frise and Whippets - the latter over the last 10 years. Bred a NZ Grand Champion in  first Whippet litter. Honoured by peers by being elected a life-member of five clubs and Patron of four . Been judging since 1976, gaining All-breeds licence in the late 80's and has fortunate enough to judge at shows all around the world, including England, Scotland, Wales, Eire, Holland, South Africa, USA, Canada, South America, India, the Philippines and in every state of Australia, and of course in New Zealand.

Bob was born in London, and started in dogs at a very early age, exhibiting English Springer Spaniels at the local shows, without much success, but nevertheless he caught the showing bug. At the time, he was also very much involved with competitive swimming, this he inherited from his Mother who was herself a Champion swimmer. With much encouragement from her Bob went on to become an International swimmer and he is very proud that he represented Great Britain in many International Competitions.
It was when he reached the age of 14 that he decided to change his breed to Poodles, but unfortunately he still did not have much success with them in the show ring. Six months later he decided his life would take a change of direction and he joined the Norwegian Navy and sailed and explored new pastures for the next few years. Having arrived home after his years in the Navy, it was at this time that he decided to have Chihuahuas as his breed, having met and married his first wife Rita, who owned Pekingese.
Together they started the Bramertita Kennels and over the next few years many dogs came to the kennels including a number of Toy breeds. In 1969 Bob become the first person to own a Chinese Crested in the United Kingdom.
