Away from the dog scene, Irene's job is as an accountant. She is married with two children who are both keen swimmers and water polo players. She is a qualified swimming teacher / timekeeper / judge and is due to take her starter exam in November. Most nights / weekends are spent on poolside coaching kids ages 6 – 16yrs old – which she finds very rewarding especially when you see them progress to national level. In 1978, they purchased their first show dog, an English Cocker bitch, who finished her championship and immediately went to a pet home. As happens many times, they came to the realization that she was not without her major faults. They did go on to better breeding, finishing many champions both in Canada and the U.S, competing well at specialties.
In the early '80's, they were involved with Lhasa Apsos for about five years, again finishing many champions in Canada and the U.S. They had good friends who raised English Springers and Pomeranians, and it was there that they took on yet a third breed, Pomeranians, and later a few co-owned Springers. They also owned German Short-Haired Pointers here and there, mainly for exhibiting, as well as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, again American and Canadian champion and much-loved companion.
While they maintain a fondness for our other breeds, it is with the Pomeranians that they had their greatest successes. Their home-bred dogs, owner-handled, have placed in the top ten dogs in Canada. They still enjoy breeding and finishing their puppies, but no longer campaign dogs.
They are charter members of the South-western Ontario Sporting Dog Club, assisting with specialty events each year, and have judged in Ireland, U.S., Venezuela and Australia, and the Spring Fair dog show in Australia, 2005.

Is a past member of the American Kennel Club Board of Directors.  Began exhibiting Pekingese in the early 1950s. He proudly gives credit to his late wife, Elaine, for the success of their small-scale dog-breeding program. "Anything I have achieved in the sport was the result of marrying a lady with the Midas touch," says Bergum. “Considering the small number of dogs involved, her success was miraculous.” Approved to judge Pekingese and Pugs in 1961 and has since added the Toy, Hound, Terrier, and Non-Sporting groups, as well as several breeds from the remaining groups. He has judged at major venues at home and abroad.  A life member of the Ventura County Dog Fanciers, Mr. Bergum is a past president and AKC delegate of the club and was its show chair for 32 years during the heyday of the famous Ventura–Santa Barbara weekend of dog shows. He was the founding president of the Pekingese Club of Arizona, a past member of the Pekingese Club of America’s board of governors, and past president and show chairman of the Sahuaro State Kennel Club. During his term on the AKC board of directors, Mr. Bergum introduced the concept of “back-to-back” shows and rekindled interest in the then-dormant “group show.” Both ideas were approved by the board and are now integral parts of the modern show scene.

Benny's activities in dogs started in his early teenage years. It began in 1964 with "Tina", who was supposed to be an Afghan Hound, but the money earned from a summer job did not cover the cost of a pure bred Afghan. In a local newspaper an advert appeared about a cross bred litter, Benny went to have a look, and came home with a lovely puppy, a cross between Border Collie and Greyhound. He took her to obedience classes and obedience competition in the local dog club but as cross-breeds were not allowed for official competitions he had to get a pure bred dog too. At the club his favourite was a big black Giant Schnauzer bitch and the decision was easy! That was what he wanted to have. He contacted the famous Riesengårdens kennel .... and the rest became history! Benny has been a licensed FCI judge since 1977, from the start as a Schnauzer/Pinscher and Giant Schnauzer judge but later have added more breeds. Since his debut in 1978 he has judged at championship show level both at all breeds and specialty breed shows in Scandinavia, England, Ireland, Australia and most European countries.

Acquired his first show dog in the fifties as a boy - a Deerhound bitch, Ch. Mountebanks Sylvia. Spent summers in England as a teenager working with dogs and getting his basic dog know-how from the old classic dog people. Imported and bred some Deerhound litters in the sixties - some champions still around in the pedigrees from this. Started in Greyhounds with Bo Bengston in 1966 and was very fortunate that the famous modern Scandinavian Greyhounds branched out from this. Has breed nine generations since then and, by exporting mainly to England and USA, influenced the breed worldwide. His co-bred bitch, Ch. Piruett, was Sweden's dog of the year in 1975. Has no prefix since he always co-bred with friends (due to his professional career as Doctor of Medicine - he has never had more than two dogs at home and very little time left for his favourite hobby). Has also some personal experience in breeds from other groups, but has always lived with Sighthounds. Judged dogs since 1966 and since the mid-nineties, has been an FCI All-breeds Judge. His experience has been gained from most corners of the world and he has had some very honourable assignments - World Shows, Crufts, Santa Barbara, the Royals in Australia, etc and many great breed specialities. Mr. Bodegard is an all breed judge and has judged in most European countries including many times in England. He has judged Crufts and the Royals in Australia. He has judged many times in New Zealand, Thailand, Israel and repeatedly in the United States including many breed specialties in Europe, Asia and Australia. Normally judges around 30 to 40 shows a year. Has a position on the Central Board of the Swedish Kennel Club.
Dr. Bodegard is president of the Swedish Greyhound Club and sits on the central board of the Swedish Kennel Club. He is a pediatrician, psychoanalyst, and child psychiatrist, involved in research and clinical work with seriously ill and disturbed refugee children from former Soviet republics.

BOILEAU, Mr. Luc

Wisconsin, USA

AKC Toy, Hound, Non-Sporting

Ph: (262) 763-2864

Inherited his interest in animals from his father, who kept hunting dogs. When he was old enough to care for them, he was given his own dogs—a Poodle and Whippet. At the age of sixteen he began breeding and showing Whippets, and was associated with the breed for many years. He  was for decades one of the busiest and most successful professional handlers on the circuit. He began his handling career in his native Canada, came to America to manage and show dogs for Ed Jenner at Knollard Farm, and, he says, "I’m still here!" The names of the champions he bred and handled while at Knollard would be "too many to list."  His professional handling career culminated at the 1990 Westminster show, when he took Best in Show with Ch. Wendessa Crown Prince. He handled the great Pekingese champion to eighty-six group firsts and thirty-four Bests in Show.
Approved to judge the Toy Group in 1990, Mr. Boileau is now approved to judge the Hound and Non-Sporting groups as well. He is a two-time Westminster breed judge and has conducted Pekingese judges’ seminars. President of the Wheaton Kennel Club and is a twenty-five-year member of the Pekingese Club of America. He is the recipient of a Quaker Oats Top Toy Dog award.  Away from the dog-show ring, he is an accomplished breeder-exhibitor of Hackney ponies with many champions to his credit.

All Rounder (FCI All Breeds)

Kennel Name: Tragband

  Ph: +44-1495-224887, Mobile: +44-7785-504106

ANDREW BRACE’s first pedigree dog was the Boxer, which was a gift from his parents for passing his Grammar School entrance examination at the age of eleven, back in 1963. As a teenager, Andrew served various local general and specialist canine societies in an administrative capacity, and at this time became very involved with the Toy breeds. He exhibited Pekingese – in which breed he titled his first Champion – Pugs, Griffons Buxellois, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Japanese Chins, as well as winning Reserve Challenge Certificates in both Great Danes and Pointers. He also exhibited American Cockers and Shih Tzu's. However it is for Beagles that Andrew’s TRAGBAND affix is best known and in this breed he has finished many Champions, the most famous of which is undoubtedly the spectacular tricolour bitch, CH. TOO DARN HOT FOR TRAGBAND, who remains the top winning Beagle of all time in the U.K. having won 42 C.C.'s plus Best in Show All Breeds at Championship level as well as seven Hound Groups.
Andrew also bred Beagles in the U.S.A. in partnership with the Shaw’s kennel, which resulted in several U.S.A. Champions carrying the TRAGBAND affix. Due to the ever increasing demands of a busy judging schedule, Andrew retired from regular exhibiting at Crufts 2000, but in 2001 won the Beagle Club’s coveted Webline Trophy for Breeder of the Year.
In the 1980’s Andrew imported from Finland the Swedish-bred Afghan Hound bitch, CH. MANDRILLS MYLTHA IZMAR TRAGBAND, who whelped a litter in quarantine and then went on to become a Group winner. In that quarantine-bred litter were several Champions including CH. IZMAR TRAGBAND FINNEGAN who was Top Hound Stud Dog one year. His sister became the dam of the 1998 Crufts Hound Group winner.
Champions in Lakeland Terriers and Tibetan Spaniels have also carried the Tragband affix.
In the U.K. Andrew has been approved by the Kennel Club to award C.Cs. in approximately 60 breeds across all seven groups, and is a judge of the Hound, Working, Pastoral, Utility and Toy Groups as well as Best in Show.
Overseas assignments have taken Andrew Brace to the U.S.A., Canada, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina, Zambia, Kenya, South Africa, Barbados, Trinidad, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.
For ten years Andrew was the publisher and editor of DOGS MONTHLY, which he founded, but in 1992 sold the business to concentrate on his other activities. However, as a canine journalist he remains busy with a weekly column in DOG WORLD newspaper and regular features in the British monthly, YOUR DOG, the U.S.A.’s DOG NEWS, DOGS IN CANADA and Sweden’s HUNDSPORT.
In 1993 Andrew completed his first book, THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO JUDGING DOGS, which was widely acclaimed. He has since worked as co-author of THE INTERNATIONAL ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF DOGS with Anne Rogers-Clark, and edited THE ULTIMATE ROTTWEILER. He is also the author of BEAGLES TODAY and THE PET OWNER’S GUIDE TO THE BOXER.
Andrew presently serves on the Kennel Club’s Show Executive Committee, and he was one of the first appointed Kennel Club Accredited Trainers on Conformation and Movement, as part of the British governing body’s newly devised judges’ education programme, regularly delivering seminars on judging.
In 2000 Andrew Brace became the first recipient of the Vale Mint Award for Outstanding Contributions to Dogdom in Wales, and in 2002 he was presented with the Golden Bone Award as the U.K.’s Dog Writer of the Year.

First dog as a teenager, a superbly natured GSD, who has spoiled him from ever having another one, as he believes that to compare would be unkind and any replacement would be hard to match in intelligence and devotion. He sees evidence both judging and observing people at shows, whom he believes sadly, don't LIKE dogs "as dogs"... they see them as extensions of their egos with a "Win at all costs" mentality with animals trained to be robot-like with no real relationship between handler and canine .. those few moments in the ring possibly being for the dog, the most intense contact and attention they have received all week. Has been involved with the following breeds: Pembroke Corgis, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Old English Sheepdogs (honoured to have been invited to judge this breed all around the world at specialties), Afghan Hound, Bichon Frise and Whippets - the latter over the last 10 years. Bred a NZ Grand Champion in  first Whippet litter. Honoured by peers by being elected a life-member of five clubs and Patron of four . Been judging since 1976, gaining All-breeds licence in the late 80's and has fortunate enough to judge at shows all around the world, including England, Scotland, Wales, Eire, Holland, South Africa, USA, Canada, South America, India, the Philippines and in every state of Australia, and of course in New Zealand.

Bob was born in London, and started in dogs at a very early age, exhibiting English Springer Spaniels at the local shows, without much success, but nevertheless he caught the showing bug. At the time, he was also very much involved with competitive swimming, this he inherited from his Mother who was herself a Champion swimmer. With much encouragement from her Bob went on to become an International swimmer and he is very proud that he represented Great Britain in many International Competitions.
It was when he reached the age of 14 that he decided to change his breed to Poodles, but unfortunately he still did not have much success with them in the show ring. Six months later he decided his life would take a change of direction and he joined the Norwegian Navy and sailed and explored new pastures for the next few years. Having arrived home after his years in the Navy, it was at this time that he decided to have Chihuahuas as his breed, having met and married his first wife Rita, who owned Pekingese.
Together they started the Bramertita Kennels and over the next few years many dogs came to the kennels including a number of Toy breeds. In 1969 Bob become the first person to own a Chinese Crested in the United Kingdom.
Bob has been associated with pedigree dogs for many years as a Breeder, Exhibitor, Judge and Society Official, and has bred and exhibited with much success English Springers, Poodles, Chihuahuas (Long and Smoothcoat), Japanese Chins, Lowchens, Keeshonds, Pekingese, Yorkshire Terriers, Chinese Crested and Papillons.
Bob has been a committee member of a number of Canine Society's including 4 breed clubs. He was also Secretary of the largest Open Show in the UK for more that 10 years.
Bob had his first judging appointment in 1963 in the United Kingdom, and is now licensed to award at Championship shows in the UK, Challenge Certificates in numerous breeds and is am also a Group Judge. At Open shows in the UK, he is qualified to Judge - All breeds, All Groups, and Best in Show.
He has been Judging overseas for 26 years and is qualified to judge the following at F.C.I. shows, Continental Kennel Club USA, and United Kennel Club International: All Breeds, All Groups, and Best in Show.

As a teenager he started breeding German Shepherds, and then later bred Dobermann's. For last several years Zoran and his wife Anna (see above) have had Labradors. All the dogs Zoran ever had were on top of the world show scene achieving significant results. But over the last several he had to reduce his show and breeding activities due to business and judging duties.
Zoran is an electronic engineer and a professional journalist as well. He was a chief editor of “The Dog’s Life” magazine for a long time and now works as a chief editor of a cynological section in “The Pet Planet” magazine about animals.

As JATO since 1974, producing one litter per year until 1998, Mrs. Bridges has owned, bred and/or co-bred over 50 Champion Basenjis, most owner and/or breeder handled to their titles. These include 6 Top Producers, 7 Specialty winners, 3 National Specialty winners (from her “last” Basenji litter, WB-BW at the 1999 BCOA National) and a Top Ten Group winner. During her husband’s twelve year illness resulting in his death in 2004, she found it necessary to gradually down-size to an easier-to-handle and place breed. Somehow, the Chinese Crested seemed a natural choice – from the “barkless” to the “hairless”! She and her sister, Penelope Inan, currently reside together in Palmdale, California with 8 Chinese Cresteds and the “last” Basenji, an 11½ year old Champion male.
Mrs. Bridges is currently approved by AKC to judge Afghans, Basenjis, Irish Wolfhounds, Whippets and All-Breed Junior Showmanship, and is also provisional for Borzois, Chinese Cresteds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Salukis. She has judged Basenji Specialties and supported entries across the U.S.A. and in Australia and Finland, including the still-record entry of 427 at the 1997 Basenji Club of America National Specialty.
She served BCOA as editor of its quarterly Bulletin for over ten years and was concurrently President for two terms, Secretary for one and a member of the Board for another six between 1987 and 1995. Mrs. Bridges was a member of the Basenji Club of America’s JEC in the nineties, creating and presenting the “Interactive Critique” at many National Specialty Judges’ Seminars, as well as compiling and authoring much of the JEC’s educational material. Following a “break” during her husband’s illness, she is again a member of the BCOA’s Judges’ Education Committee, and is currently working to revise and update the educational material being used by that Committee.

  Ph: (613) 256-2755

Allan Brown's life with purebred dogs began with the kennel of American Cocker Spaniels of his parents in the Toronto area. As with most children, his original involvement was not entirely of his choice but he soon discovered he shared their passion for the dogs and shows. While living at home, he worked in his parents' kennel as well as for several others near-by.
After marrying Thora (also an All Breeds judge), they soon acquired an Irish Setter to add to their Cockers. When they moved to some country property, they they were able to expand their breeding program of Irish Setters and English and American Cockers. At this time they began handling a large number of dogs, mostly Sporting Dogs and Hounds. They retired from professional handling in 1981. They have campaigned several of their own dogs to high rankings at the Breed, Group and All Breed level. The most notable was an Irish Setter, AM. CAN. CH. QUAILFIELD RISKY BUSINESS, winner of 15 Best in Shows, and several Specialties, who attained the position of #2 Sporting Dog and #6 all breed in Canada in 1991. In 1994 he came out of retirement to be #1 Irish, and #3 Sporting. AM. & CAN. CH. CAPTIVA ARMANI, also a multiple BIS winner, became #2 Irish in 2002 and 2003. In 2004, and 2005, CH WOODSMOKE WE'D LIKE TO SUGGEST, herself a BIS winner, became #2 Whippet.

Sue began showing dogs at the age of ten with German Shepherds, progressing through the years with handling various top winning dogs in the specialty ring. She gained her Group 5 license in 1978. Having judged throughout Australia over the years she then went on to become a National Council recognized breed specialist judge after completing some rather arduous exams. In the late 80`s she purchased her first English Cocker Spaniel as they had always held her interest. She showed this boy to his title in North Queensland but her passion for German Shepherds stayed with her for many years to come. In the mid 90`s she became more interested in the cocker then owning a little girl, - once she bred her and started showing her pups successfully she was well and truly hooked and has not looked back. Her whole life is now dedicated to this wonderful breed and she owns eight Cockers, plus four more with friends, including one they imported from Sweden. She hopes the future is bright for them at Cobalt English Cocker Spaniels.
Sue has judged in most states of Australia and numerous times in New Zealand. At present she has 4 championship Groups 1, 3,5 & 6 and is working on Groups 4 and 7.

Kennel Name: Nofretete

Web Site Phone: +45-9833 3230

Annette has spent most of her life been surrounded by dogs. In her childhood it was with Poodles and Pekingese. In the early 80's, she received her first dog, a Great Dane. A stunning black bitch. Then came a litter puppies and a few more Danes and now she was seriously hooked. She took up agility (which was quite unknown in Denmark at the time) and with her Great Dane bitch and was No. 6 in a Denmark competition.
Over the years, Greyhounds and Pharaoh's came into her life. Today she has Pharaoh's which she exhibits and also takes them each day to the nearby forest. She breed under the kennel name Nofretete, but only modestly. Mostly, she concentrates on the importance of a healthy, well balanced overall dog and with good temperament when she judges. She has judged in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Holland, Italy and Germany. Fluent in English, German, Norwegian and Swedish.
